In Scalp Reduction, the surface area of the bald spot is reduced by the simple expedient of removing some of the bare scalp. The remaining skin on the sides is stretched towards the center and sutured together. For one to two weeks following the procedure, patients experience a mild tightness of the scalp. After the scalp heals completely, Hair Transplantation can be performed to fill in the remaining bald or thinning area.
