...Developed by Dwight Scarborough, a dermatologic surgeon in Dublin, Ohio, and Emil Bisaccia, M.D., associate professor of medicine and dermatology at Columbia University in New York City, the MiniLift eliminates a double chin, jowls, and loose skin. (A surgeon will first evaluate your skin and bone structure to see if you're a good candidiate for this procedure.)

In the MiniLift, a surgeon suctions away excess fat in the chin and neck, then makes incisions in front of each earlobe, removes the fat pads in the jowls, extends the incisions to the back of the ears, and stitches sagging tissue into place. After the surgery, your face will be bruised and swollen, and you'll have to wear a facial support garment (which looks much like a sling) for a week to ten days. Stitches come out in about five days. "After the tenth day, with a little makeup, you're ready to face the world," says Dr. Bisaccia.

As swelling subsides, your new, trimmer chin and jawline will begin to emerge. "You'll see eighty percent of what you'll ultimately look like three months after the procedure and be completely healed in six months," Dr. Bisaccia adds.
