Blepharoplasty Can Open Up Your Eyes

Your eyes. When you meet someone, they are often the first feature people notice about you. Unfortunately, they are also one of your first features to show signs of aging.
As we grow older, "bags" begin to form under our eyes. Upper eyelids may begin to sag, often enough to impair vision. This is caused by the natural weakening of skin over time, causing a loss of elasticity and support. Bags of fat which surround the eye (to provide cushioning and protection) begin to protrude. These bags usually get larger with age, and cause us to look more tired and older than we really are.
Blepharoplasty is a procedure that can correct sagging and drooping eyelids, remove bags beneath the eyes, and reduce excess folds around the eyes. The result – a more youthful and rested appearance. Your eyes and your whole face will look more alert, awake and alive!
The procedure is performed in our outpatient centers by one of our experienced physicians. Patients are given a light sedative and a local anesthesia is administered around the eyes. There is usually only a mild discomfort associated with the procedure, which takes about one to two hours to complete. After patients have rested for a short while and recovered from the sedation, they go home that same day.
Most patients resume normal activities in two to three days, and return to work within a week. Any swelling and bruising generally subsides in 10 to 14 days. A mild pain reliever is used to control discomfort. |
